The Cat's Way
The Cat's Way is a spirit world for cats.
Only domestic cats go there, but you'll find them in all shapes and sizes.
They can eat, sleep and even die a second death.
It's almost always night time.
Cat's Eye: A magical talisman made from a cat's eye.
Wink: A cat spirit that occurs as a result of its eye being made into a cat's eye.
Spark: A magic orb that can be used by cat spirits to paint themselves into new shapes. Can also mean the soul.
Stray: A plain old cat that hasn't changed anything about itself.
Familiar: A deceased witches Familiar.
Gyb: Any cat. Like saying sir or ma'am. A villager.
Tibert: A very tall cat. Usually a noble.
Baudrons: A BIG cat, a huge one.

Crops and Towns
Every cat has a crop. That crop is its family, and families can be quite big. Their religion is strongly based on agriculture.
Every nine years their god Su harvests a new crop of spirits and sends them back to the world to be born. Crops can be just about anything humans plant and harvest! It all ties back to how cats were originally domesticated and that continuing relationship.
The most common families are wheat crops, like Emmer and Einkhorn, and old crops like Chickpea, Bittervetch and Flax.
There are crops you wouldn't expect, like Cocoa and Silkworm. A new crop is added to the extended family when Su is inspired by the deeds of a living cat. The progenitor of that crop must have done something special to get his attention. Like Ginkgo- who climbed a Gingko tree to battle a hawk.

A Wide World of Shapes
Just one spark can turn a cat into a whole new thing. Additional sparks usually add size, but the rules don't seem to be set in stone. Every cat has a different experience. Here are a few examples of cats and how their spark or sparks have affected them.
Baby's Breath
This questionable sock puppet occurs with one spark. It is just the right size to lurk on table tops and dressers, and has a penchant for looking harmless. A Baby's Breath will suffocate victims (who are not cats) by breathing in their face while they sleep. They aren't quick and tend not to move at all if being observed.

Familiars
Familiars are retired (deceased) witches familiars. They usually come to the Way in possession of something they owned or used while living. Gifts from their person. These objects can grant them abilities depending on the nature of the item.

- Familiars are charged with caring for recently passed kittens until their spirits are old enough to fend for themselves.
- Their abilities depend on what their former companion gave them, but don't always make sense. Example: Nola, pictured on the left, chose to take a handful of googly eyes with her (don't judge). She can see out of all of them.
Lanterns
Literally! These guys come in individual shapes but share traits in common. Lanterns don't usually appear to be made of flesh and bone. Pictured here is Wick, who is made of paper and metal. His belly is open and full of green fire. His form is pretty complex for a single-spark Gyb. He'd tell you that's because he has a lot of fire in him!

Tiberts
Tiberts are tall. Often taller than humans! They have multiple sparks and often have a paw dipped in wealth and politics too, but not all. Pictured here is Hours, he's a soft spoken hermit with a gambling problem.

Baudrons
A Baudrons will always be large. They're usually warriors. Pictured here is Jim. He was a knight once, or something like one, but the King he served isn't around anymore. He likes to keep to himself. He looks fierce but he's a guy who prefers quiet to war. A lot of Baudrons are fat and jolly.

Monoliths
Monoliths happen when a cat consumes too many sparks. Under normal circumstances, a cat would never be able to acquire that many sparks fast enough to evade intervention, but it can happen.
Thankfully these guys get a little dough brained and spend most of their time sleeping.

There are creatures in this world that aren't typical and can't be easily categorized. Hodd's Tail is a living thunderstorm that roams the countryside. Sometimes it's shaped like a cat.
Strays (cats that never used a spark) can power things. They're little ghosts who can inhabit objects. Hodd's Tail appears to be thousands of them at work.

Are there other creatures besides cats?
Yes. On rare occasions humans can visit the Cat's Way if they possess a Cat's Eye. They're typically witches. A Cat's Eye takes eighty one years to create. Most of them are heirlooms, and not too many get made in the modern day.
Fae and other mythological creatures visit more often. Cats also have no problem taking human like shapes if their spark allows it- though they always have some kind of tell. A paw, a tail, one ear that's furry. Etc.
